Vendredi de Vocabulaire: La sueur

Today’s word, la sueur, means sweat (and is inspired by yesterday’s stint on the stationary bike). It’s seasonally, appropriate, though, since summer (l’été)—the season of sweat, as I like to think of it—is approaching.

There are also two verbs for sweating:

  • suer – for the whole body
  • transpirer – for the hands or feet

On a related note, the terms for stationary bike are also interesting. WordReference.com gives le home-trainer, and the forums there also suggest une bicyclette stationnaire or un vélo stationnaire. The latter two strike me as sounding… well, less weird.
