Vendredi de Vocabulaire: Encore Les Animaux

Today’s post is once again about animals that I learned about while listening to podcasts from RMC.

  • un manchot – This word means either a penguin or a one-armed person. I’m not sure if these two meanings are somehow linked. A penguin is also sometimes called un pingouin, but that also means auk. (Frankly, I’d have a hard time telling them apart, but I’m not a birder.)
  • un sanglier – A wild boar. Apparently it’s illegal to keep them and other wild animals as pets in France.
  • une limace – A slug.
