I had brunch with an acquaintance from Paris the other day, and we were talking about my house. I mentioned that I have un robinet qui gouttee (a faucet that drips). It’s the one in the kitchen (la cuisine). That got us talking about sinks. Apparently the word for sink (the basin) is l’évier (masc.) if it’s in the kitchen. However, the bathroom sink is le lavabo.
