Vendredi de Vocabulaire: Mots Qui Viennent des Nouvelles

I’m fascinated by how countries deal with diversity and issues like immigration and diversity. Since I have an interest in the French language, I often wind up reading news articles about diversity in France.

Recently, I read an article about a chain of French fast food that has made some of it’s stores 100% Halal. I’m surprised at how upset people got at the idea. The article itself is fascinating (and in French), and it has some interesting vocabulary words, as well:

annodin – harmless, mild, neutral
rentables – profitable
une enseigne – a sign; a brand

Also in the news recently is France’s expulsion of the Romani (the people that the word Gypsy often refers to).
